SUSTAINABILITY AT HARIS COTTON

Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Haris Cotton, we believe in the importance of sustainability and are committed to making environmentally conscious choices in our production processes. One of the key aspects of our sustainability initiative is our use of linen, a fabric renowned for its eco-friendly properties.

Why Linen?
Linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics available, and here’s why we have chosen it as the primary material:

  1. Natural Fiber: Linen is made from the fibers of the flax plant. Flax is a natural and renewable resource that requires minimal water and pesticides to grow compared to other crops like cotton.
  2. Biodegradable: Linen is biodegradable and can decompose naturally, reducing waste and environmental impact at the end of its lifecycle.
  3. Durability: Linen is incredibly durable and long-lasting. Its strength and resistance to wear mean that linen garments remain in excellent condition for many years, reducing the need for frequent replacements and thus minimizing waste.
  4. Eco-Friendly Production: The production process of linen is environmentally friendly. Flax can grow in poor-quality soil and requires less water than cotton. Additionally, every part of the flax plant can be used, leaving no waste.
  5. Low Carbon Footprint: The processing of linen fabric is less intensive and has a lower carbon footprint compared to synthetic fabrics. This makes it a greener choice for eco-conscious consumers.
  6. Hypoallergenic: Linen is naturally hypoallergenic and has anti-bacterial properties, making it a healthy choice for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
  7. Comfort and Breathability: Linen is known for its breathability and moisture-wicking properties, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This natural temperature regulation reduces the need for excessive air conditioning or heating, contributing to energy savings.

NON-TOXIC DYES

At Haris Cotton, we prioritize not only the quality and sustainability of our fabrics but also the safety and environmental impact of our dyeing processes. We use non-toxic dyes that are free from harmful chemicals and heavy metals, ensuring that our garments are safe for both our customers and the planet.
These eco-friendly dyes minimize pollution and reduce water consumption during the dyeing process. By choosing non-toxic dyes, we are able to provide vibrant, long-lasting colors while upholding our commitment to sustainability and responsible production practices. This choice reflects our dedication to creating beautiful, safe, and environmentally conscious fashion.

Our resort wear brand features pure linen fabrics. We choose linen as our primary fabric because it is recognized as the most sustainable fabric globally, with a minimal carbon footprint and water consumption. Linen is made from flax fibers, which can grow even in the harshest of fields with minimal effort and absorb only 500-800 millimeters of water per year which is the average yearly rainfall of a dry climate.

Linen is not only sustainable but also extremely comfortable to wear. It’s soft and lightweight texture makes it ideal for summer wear. With proper care, linen garments can last for decade. Additionally, linen is heat-regulating and moisture-wickening, ensuring that you stay cool and dry in hot and humid weather.

Linen has a unique feature of natural wrinkles that no other fabric can replicate, adding a touch of natural elegance to every style made from it.

ECO FRIENDLY DYES

Inspired by the beauty of the Mediterranean and the Greek ideal, we only use natural dyes for our garments. We believe that natural dyes align with our brand values and our commitment to sustainable practices.

Natural dyes are derived from plants and minerals; and are free from harmful chemicals used in synthetic dyes. They are biodegradable, non-toxic, and do not pollute the environment during the dyeing process or after disposal. Using natural dyes also supports local communities, as many of the materials used are sourced from small-scale farmers and artisans.

In addition to their environmental and social benefits, natural dyes provide a unique color palette that cannot be replicated by synthetic dyes. Our resort wear brand features hues inspired by the natural beauty of the Mediterranean, such as deep blues, earthly greens, and warm terracotta’s, all created using natural ingredients.

At our resort wear brand, we are dedicated to crafting fashionable and comfortable clothing that is not only beautiful but also sustainable. This means that the textile is grown, cultivated, harvested, processed, and dyed using 100% eco-friendly resources, and that the entire production process is carried out by businesses that are internationally recognized for their ethical and eco-friendly practices.

We firmly believe that fashion should not come at the cost of the planet or the people involved in its production. That’s why we are proud to offer resort wear collections made exclusively from sustainable fabrics.

PURE LINEN

Our 100% premium linen fibers are expertly woven into a soft yet strong fabric that will take your wardrobe to new heights of comfort and sophistication. Linen has long been associated with royalty and the wealthy, and it’s easy to understand why. The lightweight, breathable material drapes beautifully and feels amazing against the skin, making it an ideal choice for hot summer days.

But our pure linen collection is more than just a nod to the past – it’s also a sustainable choice for the future. Linen requires minimal processing and can last for decades with proper care. By choosing our pure linen, you are not only indulging in a luxurious fabric, but also making a responsible choice for the environment.

panel 4

LINEN GAUZE

Linen gauze is woven with an open-weave structure, giving it a loose and slightly crinkled texture. This unique weave creates a fabric that is lightweight and breathable, allowing for better airflow compared to regular linen. On the other hand, regular linen is woven in a more solid and smooth manner, resulting in a fabric with a different feel and appearance.

The open-weave construction of linen gauze also contributes to its semi-sheer quality.

The loosely woven threads allow light to pass through fabric, giving it a delicate and airy look. In contract, regular linen tends to have a denser weave, providing more opacity. Due to its open weave, linen gauze tends to have a more textured and slightly wrinkled surface. This texture adds a unique visual element to garments made from linen gauze. In contrast, regular linen has a smoother surface and a more polished appearance.

LINEN RAYON

Experience the best of both worlds with our linen rayon fabric, a blend of 60% Rayon and 40% Linen. We use high-quality natural materials for our rayon, which are safely dissolved in chemicals by the best professionals and then spun alongside linen fibers to create our signature blend.

Rayon has the softness and breathability of cotton, but with more absorbency. When it combined with the properties of linen, the result is a linen rayon blend that’s perfect for creating printed fabric. Rayon absorbs more color, allowing vivid colors to last longer. This makes our linen rayon blend perfect for creating fun, vibrant summer styles.

Not only is our Linen Rayon blend lightweight and breathable, it also offers the durability and strength of linen, making it a practical and versatile choice for any wardrobe.

panel 6

COTTON

Cotton is a versatile and comfortable fabric commonly used in resort wear. Derived from fibers of the cotton plant, it is a natural and renewable resource. One of the primary advantages of cotton is its breathability, allowing air to circulate and keeping the body cool in warm climates. This makes it an ideal choice for resort wear, providing comfort in hot and humid conditions.

Cotton is also recognized for its durability, with the ability to withstand regular wear and washing. This longevity reduces the need for frequent replacements, contributing to a more sustainable wardrobe.

In terms of care, cotton is easy to maintain. It can be conveniently machine washed and dried, making it a practical option for travel and resort wear.
